Second Half Comfort
Belgium eased off the accelerator after the interval but remained in complete control. The third goal came on 74 minutes from a counter-attack, the substitute finishing calmly one-on-one with the goalkeeper. New Zealand worked hard but created almost nothing of note.
What This Means for Group E
Belgium are the heavy favourites to top Group E. New Zealand face an uphill battle to progress and will need maximum points from their remaining fixtures. Their defensive issues — exposed clearly here — are a major concern.
